#elevenseshour

elevenseshour

Early last year, I was talking to several people on Twitter and we realised that there aren’t many really good networking hours on Twitter during the day.  That has changed now, but at the time, there wasn’t really anything for those of us who wanted to spent time networking in the day time.  So… #elevenseshour was born!  At the time, it was only on Tuesdays and immediately became a hit with those who joined in.  Since then, it’s grown both in terms of people who take part and in the number of days – you can now join in on a

Tuesday – hosted by me and guest hosts

Thursday which is hosted every other week by @KimberleyHotel and guest hosts in between.

#elevenseshour is meant to feel like a virtual coffee break for those who run small businesses.  We can get together, have a good chat (and a moan about our gripes if we want!) and talk about what is going on in our life and business.  We also share our products and services, and everyone RTs as much as possible.  From week one of starting #elevenseshour I noticed an increase in RTs, new followers and soon after that, sales too!  I really love it, it’s such a fun hour, everyone is really warm and friendly and I love that people like my things and want to buy them too.

But don’t just take my word for it! I thought I’d ask a few people who take part in #elevenseshour what they think!

The time, I mostly miss it and the random days, so sometimes I forget (Tip from The Sequinned Sheep: I always set an alarm on my phone so that I don’t forget #elevenseshour and it’s set for Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Originally it was both days of the week starting with T to make it easier to remember too, but now we have added Monday that doesn’t work anymore lol)

I love that people are so willing to buy from people they’ve been chatting to, instead of going to a high street shop. As an artisan dealing in handmade products, this is what it’s all about.

I love all the suggestions people have made here for how to make #elevenseshour even more special!  I’ve taken note of your ideas and will definitely look into seeing how we can put those into practice!

I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a few of the people you might bump into at #elevenseshour!  Do pop along if you’ve not been before and if you are a regular keep coming along as we love having you!  #elevenseshour will no doubt grow again in the future as more people volunteer to host it on other days too!

If you’ve been following my blog, you might be wondering how the jumper commission is going.  I’m halfway through the second sleeve now, so hoping that next week I might have the finished article to show you!  I’m not sure how long it will take to sew up once the sleeves are done, so am allowing a week for that. Check back next week to see that!  And then of course, I’ll be starting the second jumper that I’ve been commissioned to make!
